The Internet Feels Smaller Now
The internet used to feel endless. Clicking from one strange website to another felt like exploring hidden corners of a giant digital city. Every page looked different, every creator had their own style, and finding something obscure actually felt rewarding.
Now everything feels strangely centralized. Most people spend their time on the same handful of apps, seeing the same trends, hearing the same songs, and repeating the same jokes. Algorithms decide what gets attention, and slowly the web starts to feel less like exploration and more like scrolling through an endless hallway of recycled content.
I don’t think the old internet was necessarily better, but it definitely felt more personal. Pages were messy, weird, and sometimes ugly, but they reflected actual people behind the screen. Modern design is cleaner, but sometimes it feels so optimized that personality disappears entirely.
Maybe that’s why personal blogs still stand out to me. They feel human in a way social media rarely does anymore.
